Gain hands-on experience

I found my experience as the 2014 GCV Rudy J. Favretti Research Fellow to be an excellent complement to my academic training in landscape design and historic preservation, providing a wonderful opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of historic landscape preservation.  I was encouraged to truly own my research and documentation project from beginning to end, with enthusiastic support and expert guidance along the way as needed from the Fellowship Committee members.  The resulting final report has provided me with a highly visible publication in the public domain through the online GCV archive, and has served as an important example of my research and documentation skills as I have explored career opportunities since graduating in 2015.  Committee members have provided me with an invaluable network beyond my Fellowship tenure, continuing to provide advice and expertise in support of my current professional endeavors.  In summary, the Fellowship experience has had a very positive impact in my pursuit to merge my interests in landscape design, history, and historic preservation, and I strongly encourage interested students to explore this unique program in historic landscape preservation.
