Frascati, Orange County, Virginia

Frascati, Orange County, VirginiaResearch and document the grounds of Frascati, a house built in the 1830s for Philip Pendleton Barbour by one of Thomas Jefferson's craftsmen. The property is near and similar to Montpelier, James and Dolley Madison’s house, and its grounds include an existing kitchen outbuilding and holly trees perhaps contemporary with the house.

The garden is said to have included serpentine walls like those Jefferson designed at his University of Virginia, a scalloped top fence and Lombardy poplars. Measured drawings and a written report will be produced to contribute to an archive of historic landscapes of Virginia.
